Thembanathi is excited to again be able to join the Marketplace at Zimfest this year. Zimfest is a Zimbabwean music and dance festival. Zimfest 2014 will be held on the campus of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington on July 24-27. The Marketplace and the outdoor stage will be located on Wyatt Lawn, the grassy expanse between Wyatt Hall and Union Avenue. The Marketplace will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 12 noon to 5 pm on Sunday. The public is more than welcome.
For those who aren’t familiar with Zimfest, it is an annual celebration of Zimbabwean music and culture, created by people who love Zimbabwean music. The first festival was held in Seattle in 1991. In the ensuing years, Zimfest has grown and thrived through the energy of hundreds who give with their heads, hands, and hearts. More information about Zimfest can be found at their website.
