YOUNG CHANGE AGENTS IN AFRICA: FROM APARTHEID TO HIV/AIDS

On June 16, the International Day of the African Child and National Youth Day in South Africa, Thembanathi’s founder, Lindsey Reynolds, will be speaking at the Eugene Library at 2:00 pm in the Bascom-Tykeson room.  The holiday honors those who participated in the Soweto Uprising on June 16, 1976, a series of high school-led protests that became a seminal moment in the struggle to end Apartheid. The days also aims to raise awareness of the continuing needs for education and the challenges faced by young people in Africa.
